“…over the borderline…”

‘Borders’ is closing down all their remaining stores…

That’s over 11,000 more people unemployed…

That’s also millions of readers left to wonder if there will ever be another surge for actual books to make their way on a bookshelf, rather than pixels on a pod…

The inimitable Dorothy Parker once said…. “..I hated writing, but love having written…”

Well…I for one am blessed, for I love writing, and I love having written…and the books I’ve written so far were being sold by ‘Borders’…and the new one that’s coming out in a couple of weeks…that will also be sold by ‘Borders’…

And sure, there’s still ‘Barnes And Noble’, ‘Books-A-Million’, Amazon.com, etc… (for now)…but the event that ‘Borders’ is undertaking isn’t just about ‘Borders’…it’s about ‘Frugal Muse’ and ‘McNally Jackson’…‘Greenlight’, and ‘Politics And Prose’…all the indie stores that are trying to stay alive…that deserve to stay alive…

We need to keep books bound…not digitized…

And it’s not that I have anything against e-readers like ‘Kindle’ or ‘Nook’…it’s just that…I know how we are…we are disposable…not like we used to be…nowadays, we forget about what came before…

…and there’s always something coming after…
