ELIZABETH — A Union County jury found an Edison man guilty of unlawful possession of a handgun, Prosecutor Theodore J. Romankow announced.

David Allen, 52, was convicted of the second degree crime this afternoon following a three day trial and 45 minutes of deliberation, according to Anne Marie Gibbons, who prosecuted the case.

Elizabeth police responded to reports of shots fired on Feb. 1, 2010 on Magnolia Avenue, said Gibbons. Upon their arrival they found several shell casings from a 9mm handgun on the street and located the weapon inside a 1996 Buick. The car, registered to David Allen, was parked outside of his house on Magnolia, said Gibbons.

He faces up to 10 years in prison when he is sentenced on Oct. 20.
