United Way’s Golf Classic Raises Over $30,000 For Community Programs

ELIZABETH – Over 90 individuals and representatives of businesses throughout Union County hit the golf course at Shackamaxon Golf & Country Club in Scotch Plains to support United Way of Greater Union County’s (UWGUC) work in making a difference in people’s lives and addressing critical community needs.

“This event’s continued success demonstrates again and again that Union County’s residents and businesses care for their neighbors and the community,” said James W. Horne, Jr., President & CEO of UWGUC. “Their generosity and leadership enable organizations like ours to continue our work.”

United Way’s 2011 Golf Classic and dinner reception generated more than $30,000 to support essential programs and services in Union County. Enterprise Rent-a-Car was the leading sponsor of this year’s event.

“We are delighted to be on board and support United Way because their mission aligns with the goals of our organization,” stated Regional Vice President of Enterprise Rent-a-Car and UWGUC’s Board Chair, Walter Erhardt.

UWGUC develops and supports programs that measurably improve the lives of local children and families. United Way’s Family Success Centers is an example of how the organization works to build stronger, more vibrant and healthy families by providing access to services based on needs. The Family Success Centers are community based, family-centered neighborhood gathering places where any community resident can go for information and services.
