WESTFIELD — JoAnne Lemenille of Clark has been re-elected for another term as president of the Westfield Community Players. This marks her second term leading the local community theater.
Lemenille was first elected to serve as president from 2010-2011 after having served as vice president of productions. She first came to Westfield Community Players back in 2006 having auditioned for a role in “Cemetery Club.” She then went on to serve as props mistress for several productions and was asked to serve on the Board of Directors, and then elected as president.
Under Lemenille’s leadership, a new direction has been given to the Westfield Community Players. The subscriber base has increased, there have been numerous improvements to the theater, and the organization has expanded its presence in the community and encouraged new volunteers to join.
Lemenille has also performed on stage in other productions such as Mrs. Zubritsky in “Fools,” Mrs. Isaac Cohen in “Abie’s Irish Rose,” and as Mrs. Lipari in “A View from the Bridge.” Lemenille has been involved in theater since she was a member of the TeenStagers in Union. She has also appeared in productions at Foothills and Clark Players. She has musically directed “West Side Story” for Edison Valley and “Fanny” for Circle. Lemenille is also a former Miss Hudson County.
Lemenille said that the continued success of the theater is due in large part to the tremendous hard work and support she has received from all of the board members and newfound interest in its past and new subscribers. She is looking forward to a tremendous season once again.
