UNION COUNTY — Triple-platinum recording artists Collective Soul will headline at Union County MusicFest 2011 on Friday, Sept. 16. The five-day free music festival will also include performances by Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes as well as The Smithereens.
Collective Soul’s first mainstream hit was “Shine” in 1993. Some of their other hits include “December” and “Heavy.” They have released eight studio albums, the most recent is 2009’s self-titled “Collective Soul.”
Southside Johnny, one of the top acts to come out of the Jersey Shore music scene, will headline New Jersey Family Day at the Union County Fair, presented by Kean University on Sunday Sept. 18. Longtime indie favorites The Smithereens, fronted by Scotch Plaines native Pat DiNizio, are also slated to perform on Sunday.
As previously announced, international recording stars Blondie will take the stage at MusicFest on Saturday, Sept. 17.
MusicFest is part of the Union County Fair, which will be held in Oak Ridge Park in Clark from Wednesday, Sept. 14, to Sunday, Sept. 18.
