SOUTH BRUNSWICK — On Saturday, July 30, Middlesex County’s office of Rutgers Cooperative Extension will be hosting a garden workshop at the EARTH Center in Davidson’s Mill Pond Park, 42 Riva Ave in South Brunswick. The topic presented will be Making & Using Compost Tea.
If you have used compost in your garden, you know it is a great soil amendment adding nutrients and improving soil health. Compost tea is a liquid form of this valuable amendment for your garden. Compost tea improves a plant’s ability to use nutrients and fight off pest and disease attack. Rutgers Master Gardener Vivian Landix of Old Bridge has 30 years of gardening experience, and will be presenting the workshop with step by step instruction.
This program costs $20 and those interested should register at 1-732-398-5262 by July 27.
The 2011 gardening workshops at the EARTH Center are a great opportunity for those who cannot commit to the Master Gardeners classes to acquire the environmental stewardship knowledge that the EARTH Center has to offer.
The size of these classes is limited, so register early to insure a space. For more information contact 1-732-398-5262, or visit the EARTH Center online at www.co.middlesex.nj.us/extensionservices.
