SOUTH AMBOY – The annual Music In The Park summer concert series, presented by the Middlesex County Department of Parks & Recreation, returned to Raritan Bay Waterfront Park on O’Leary Boulevard this week.
Walt Wagner and the Serenaders opened the season with swing music on Wednesday. The series continues with the Robert Murdock Band offering a classic rock tribute to the 60s, 70s and 80s on July 13; Zydeco-A-Go-Go playing New Orleans-style rhythm and blues on July 20 and Bernie Goydish’s Jersey Polka Stars on July 27.
The August linuep includes The Perry Brothers Irish Band on Aug. 3, the Sandy Sasso Swingin’ Big Band on Aug. 10, Starfish Rocks! Performing family-friendly rock and roll for kids on Aug. 17 and the Tim Gillis Band playing the greatest in country music on Aug. 24.
The shows last from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Attendees should arrive early and bring lawn chairs or blankets. In the event of rain, the concerts will be held at the South Amboy Middle/High School auditorium.
Weekly summer concerts are also held on Sunday evenings at the Spring Lake Park Gazebo in South Plainfield and the Warren Park Mini Theater in Woodbridge, and on Wednesday afternoons at the Thompson Park Gazebo in Jamesburg.
