ELIZABETH — The Union County Homicide Task Force is investigating the shooting death of an Elizabeth man that occurred Friday evening, according to Prosecutor Theodore Romankow.
At approximately 9:25 p.m. on June 24, the Elizabeth police department responded to the corner of 2nd and Pine Street on a report of a shooting. When they arrived, the found Antoine Best, 23, of Flora Street suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to University Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later, said Romankow.
The Homicide Task Force continues to gather and examine evidence connected with the shooting, said Romankow. The Task Force also continues to investigate a June 22 shooting in Elizabeth at Pine Street 3rd Street. The victim in that shooting was identified as Ramill Thomas, 31.
A reward of up to $5,000 is available for anyone with information that leads to the arrest and indictment of the person or persons responsible for either shooting. Anonymous tips can be submitted by calling 1-908-654-TIPS or www.uctip.org
