EDISON — Temple Emanu-El, located at 100 James Street in Edison, has announced a slate of community events for July. Unless otherwise noted, all take place at the temple. For more information, call 1-732-549-4442.
July 8 – Special Shabbat Alive! The Celebration of Temple Emanu-El’s 50th Anniversary continues at 7 p.m. with a lively musical and participatory service. Among the guests will be local and state politicians and members of the Interfaith Clergy Association. A festive Oneg reception will follow the service.
July 15 – Shabbat Under the Stars At 6 p.m. come to the Temple with your own meat (or pareve) Sabbath dinner. Temple Emanu-El will provide drinks, challah and dessert and you bring dinner and your family and guests. At 7:00 p.m. join in a Shabbat Service under the stars and welcome the Sabbath bride with music and song. Visitors will find a warm welcome.
July 18 – The Book Club meets at 7:30 p.m. in the Temple Library. This month’s reading is “The Romance Reader” by Pearl Abraham. The book is available at Middlesex County libraries.
July 23 – Dance Party at 8 p.m. More 50th Anniversary celebrating with 50 years of music, reaching back to the sounds of Soul, Motown, Disco, Rock & Roll, and Techno. Live DJ, food and drink for $25. July 29 – TOT SHABBAT at 6 p.m. is a program aimed toward younger children. It includes an age appropriate Shabbat Service and a Jewish craft project. The service for adults begins at 8 p.m.
