EDISON – Kelsey Hart, a graduating senior at The Wardlaw-Hartridge School, was honored at the NJSIAA 18th Annual Scholar/Athlete Awards Program & Luncheon last month. In addition to being honored as her school’s student athlete award winning, Hart was lucky enough to be drawn at random for a $1,000 scholarship.
Each school had one honoree who was selected using the criteria developed by the NJSIAA:
- Nominee must be a graduating senior.
- Nominee must possess a cumulative grade point average of no less than 3.0 or its equivalent on a scale of 1 – 4 or its equivalent.
- Nominee must have participated in an NJSIAA sponsored varsity sport.
- Nominee must have exhibited outstanding school and community citizenship.
Hart is a lifer at Wardlaw-Hartridge. She has been at the school since kindergarten. She has become part of the fabric of our community. She received the Lum Award coming out of eighth grade. This award is presented to the outstanding female athlete in that grade. The recipient must demonstrate outstanding ability and good sportsmanship.
Hart has earned eight letters and served as the captain of the softball team as a senior. She was a also a four-year member of the soccer team. She will attend Misericordia University in the fall and has been accepted into its prestigious five-year speech pathology program.
