CLARK – Clark teens can get hands-on experience and learn about the world of sports broadcasting through Clark Recreation’s new sports broadcasting camp. Participants of the week long program will gain insight into game coverage, behind the scenes activities, and learn about sports from a sportscasters point-of-view.
Participants will practice game preparation, writing and interviewing skills, learn the differences between radio and television calls, sports radio, teleprompter use and on-air presentation. Participants will practice all week leading up to their final assignment – calling a professional baseball game.
Lectures, daily visits from big name New York area broadcasters and practice assignments will be part of the mix. The camp is open to all Clark boys and girls between the ages of 11 and 18. The camp fee is $99.
The camp will be held from 1-5 p.m. on July 11-14. The final event will be held on Friday, July 15 from 5-10 p.m. at the Somerset Patriots’ ballpark in Bridgewater. Students will be responsible for their own transportation to and from the ballpark; carpooling will be an option.
Registration forms can be picked up and mailed back to the recreation office at 430 Westfield Avenue, Clark NJ 07066, Attn: Ralph Bernardo. For more information, call 1-732-428-8400.
