EDISON –Pranali Soni of Edison, a sophomore at The Wardlaw-Hartridge School, has been chosen as a state finalist in the National American Miss New Jersey Pageant to be held Aug. 21-22 at the Hilton Hotel in East Brunswick.
The National American Miss pageants are held for girls age 4-18, and have five different age divisions. Soni will be participating in the Junior Teen division, along with other outstanding ladies from across the state of New Jersey.
If Soni wins the Miss New Jersey Pageant, she will compete in the National American Miss Finals in Los Angeles in November. Every state winner and one parent receives a day at Disneyland, in addition to the other cash awards, college scholarships and prizes offered.
Soni is very active in extracurricular activities and community service in addition to being a high honor roll student. She’s a member of the National Spanish Honor Society and recently placed first in the Upper School Science Fair. Soni is a member of the varsity cheerleading and tennis teams at W-H. She’s also involved in dance, Club Interact/Club Awareness, the Spanish Club and the yearbook.
Outside of school, she does peer tutoring and has volunteered at JFK Medical Center, JCC Daycare and hospitals abroad (Niyati Hospital in Ahmadabad, India). She’s a member of the United Passaic Organization in which she participates in food drives, health fairs and free medical checkups.
She’s been recognized as a Nestle Very Best In Youth Honorable Mention, a GMC All-Honors Athlete, a Mini Med School Honors graduate and is part of the HOBY Leadership Program.
