TRENTON – Beginning July 2, New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission agencies will remain open until at least 5:30 p.m. on weekdays, MVC Chairman and Chief Administrator Raymond P. Martinez announced Thursday.
The new hours will reopen agencies on Mondays while continuing to offer the popular services on Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings. The move will add nearly 10 additional service hours each week for residents at all 39 motor vehicle agencies.
“The Motor Vehicle Commission recognizes the importance of offering residents a variety of hours that fit into their schedules. This move is an important part of our continuing efforts to provide New Jerseyans a positive customer experience at each of our 39 agencies,” said Martinez. “We are listening. These more convenient service hours are just the first step in a long-term plan that will also include significant technology upgrades targeted to improve service levels, enhance the security of our operations and expand motorists’ ability to conduct transactions online and by mail while at the same time keeping costs down during these difficult budgetary times.”
Traditionally, MVC agencies closed during the week at 4:30 p.m. Under this new plan, the agencies will stay open one hour later. Additionally, the MVC will maintain evening service until 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday and popular Saturday hours from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.
