PERTH AMBOY— Mayor Wilda Diaz and the Office of Recreation invite all students and children to attend the stocking of Willow Pond on Saturday, June 11, at 11 a.m. to help transport the fish to the water. A representative from Musky Trout Hatchery will teach attendees about fish habitat, feeding and spawning habits, and fishing tips.
The pond will be stocked with largemouth bass, bluegill sun fish, channel catfish, and fathead minnows. The native fish species added to the pond also for fishing and helps control the mosquito population in the area.
Willow Pond is located at 500 Dorothy Avenue, behind Wendy’s on Convery Bouelvard.
Fishing is not permitted on the same day of the stocking. Individuals 16 years of age and older must have a freshwater fishing license. Those fishing are not allowed to take any fish. It is required that individuals catch and release the fish.
