NEW PROVIDENCE – On Sunday, June 12, Team Maitri will participate in the SHARE NJ 5K Race to save lives through organ & tissue donation. Team captain Michael Snyder of New Providence will participate to celebrate the two-year anniversary of his kidney donation to his younger sister Erin.
“Maitri is the Buddhist principle of loving-kindness or loving-friendliness,” Snyder commented on the team name. “This is the basic human need or desire to do things for other people without the hope for reward.”
“NJ Sharing Network takes tremendous pride in its donor and recipient families,” says Joe Roth, President and Chief Executive Officer of NJ Sharing Network and past President of AOPO (Association of Organ Procurement Organizations). “While we strive daily as an organization to advance the organ and tissue donation initiatives, our goals would never be reached without the dedication and support we receive from these families and friends. I sincerely look forward to cheering on Team Maitri at our Foundation’s inaugural 5K.”
The SHARE NJ 5K Race to Save Lives Through Organ & Tissue Donation will take place on Sunday, June 12 in New Providence. The 5K Walk/Run will commence at 10AM; the 1-mile Fun Run at 9AM; and the Sprout Sprints at 11AM. Registration and packet pickup will run from 7:30 – 9:45AM.
Packets can also be picked up on Saturday, June 11 from 10AM-2PM at the race start location, NJ Sharing Network headquarters, 691 Central Avenue, New Providence. For more information about the race, to register, or to support Team Maitri, visit www.ShareNJ5K.org.
