CLARK — The Clark community recently enjoyed a musical performance by the Arthur L. Johnson High School Concert Band, Jazz Band and Chorus in the school’s auditorium.

During the concert performance, Band and Chorus Director Rachel Bollaro explained the highlighted piece by the ALJ Chorus to the audience. She said, “’A Jubilant Song’ by Rene Clausen is a very exciting and challenging piece for the students. During this piece the pulse and time signature changes nearly every measure. Additionally, there is a section that is marked for the performers to repeat a pattern for an indicated amount of time. The students did a wonderful job performing this challenging selection.”

Also featured was the ALJ Concert Band performing a symphony like work titled “Video Games Live” which highlighted music composed for various video games, as well as the traditional John Phillip Sousa March, “The Liberty Bell”. The concert closed with a performance by the ALJ Jazz Band.

Student performer Brenna Westcott said “The music for this concert was very challenging but everyone worked hard and did a great job. This concert was an exciting finish to my four years in the ALJ Music Program.”
