Trudi’s Corner: Ability May Not Be The Name Of The Game

By Trudi Cunningham

What a vicious society we live in, were ability may not be the name of the game. How positively sick is the fact as to what’s been happening in certain areas? How many can remember when it was noted how many personal family members were employed by the county? Did it ever change? Now we have the same in another direction.

I have heard of a particular incident where a person forgot to vote and was questioned. Yes, I said “forgot.” Trust me, it has happened to me. For this reason, they were not possibly advanced to a certain position. What country are we living in? This is why my father brought our family here – freedom of choice!

Yes, I have heard about buying a ticket, literally under duress, to attend a particular affair. I have personally asked retirees about this, and it was not as such years ago. How many know of companies that started family members in the mail room or shipping department to learn the business? It seems, in certain areas, you are not advanced because of your abilities. It’s not what you know, it’s who you know that’s been questioned. Just don’t ask, because you might be looking from the “outside in.”
