Powerball Jackpot Soars To $171 Million

STATE – Saturday night’s Powerball jackpot is worth $171 million, or $88.7 million if the winner opts for a lump sum cash payout.

No one matched all five numbers and the red Power Ball number in Wednesday’s drawing to win the top prize. The winning numbers for May 25 were: 04, 23, 31, 42, and 50 and the Red Power Ball number was 23. The Power Play number was 02.


Five lucky New Jersey Lottery players did win the Powerball third prize of $10,000, according to the Lottery’s Executive Director Carole Hedinger. In addition, 62,729 other New Jersey players took home an estimated $270,216 in prizes ranging from $3 to $100.

William “Bill” Swanson II of Houston, Texas, was the last person to win the Powerball jackpot. He bought the winning ticket in the April 23 drawing, which is worth $74 million, while visiting his mother in Indiana for Easter.

Saturday night’s drawing will be held at 11 p.m. and televised on NJN-TV, the New Jersey Network.
