PERTH AMBOY— Mayor Wilda Diaz invites the residents of Perth Amboy to honor our veterans on Memorial Day during a parade and ceremony to be held on Monday, May 30.
“I look forward to holding this ceremony every year,” Diaz said. “I have immediate family members that have served and who are currently serving in the military—and so, I am especially honored to recognize all military service men and women and to share this day with our city residents.”
Several service organizations will be participating, including the William C. McGinnis School Marching Band, the Girl Scouts of Central and Southern New Jersey– Perth Amboy Service Unit, the Perth Amboy High School ROTC cadets, army vehicles and Perth Amboy veterans.
The parade starts at 10 a.m., beginning at the Train Station (Smith Street entrance) and proceeding to Sadowski Parkway. The ceremony will be held at Veterans’ War Memorial on Sadowski Parkway at 11 a.m.
As a reminder, the City of Perth Amboy offices will be closed Mondayand there will be no garbage collection on Memorial Day. It will be collected on the next regularly schedule pick-up day.
