SOUTH AMBOY — The Y celebrates Older Americans Month in May as a way to show appreciation and support for seniors as they continue to enrich and strengthen our communities.
The South Amboy Branch YMCA will be hosting a Senior Health Day on Tuesday, May 24, to engage seniors in healthful activities together. Seniors throughout the community are invited to participate in the scheduled events that will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the South Amboy Y, located at 200 John T. O’Leary Boulevard.
Senior Health Day will kick off with a Zumba Gold® class. This is a lighter Zumba class designed for active older adults to burn away calories in this Latin inspired dance-fitness class. At 11 a.m., there will be an “Ask the Doctor” question & answer session with Dr. Harleen Kaur of Raritan Bay Medical Center and Ansonya Family Care. Finally, Y nutritionist, Alexandra Borrell, will be hosting a nutrition lecture at noon to educate seniors on the best nutrition practices and sharing some healthy snack ideas.
All community seniors are invited to celebrate Senior Health Day at the South Amboy Y. For more information, call 1-732-553-9622 or visit www.ymcaofmewsa.org/southamboy.
