SCOTCH PLAINS –Members of the class of 2011 at Union Catholic High School have been accepted to the nation’s top colleges and universities including Princeton University, University of Pennsylvania, Columbia University, College of William and Mary, The George Washington University, Emory University, the United States Naval Academy, Boston College, Villanova University, the College of the Holy Cross and University of Notre Dame, school officials said.
Among them is Sean Sarra, of Linden, who has selected to attend Princeton University after receiving acceptances from University of Pennsylvania, Georgetown University, Columbia University and College of William and Mary.
“I chose Princeton after attending an accepted student preview event and was impressed with the campus and overall atmosphere of the school,” Sarra said.
He plans on studying political science and has been “floored” by the success of his college acceptance season having received full or partial scholarships and financial assistance to all of the schools on his list. In addition to excelling in the classroom, Sarra has been active in the UC Community as a member of the Environmental Club Executive Board, National Honor Society, World Language Honor Society and Forensics Team. He also attended the American Legion Boys State Program last summer and was selected as a National Merit Commended Student and named an AP Scholar for his performance on exams taken during his junior year.
