CRANFORD – Regardless of our chosen field of expertise, we all must work within an organizational environment, even if we are self-employed and interfacing with clients. Therefore, it is essential to develop effective skills in dealing with others through the spoken and written word. Union County College will offer an eight-week course this summer in “Effective Communications in Business”, which addresses just this area, at its Cranford Campus.
“Effective Communications in Business” covers such topics as conflict management in the workplace, active listening, non-verbal communication and body language, group problem solving, and writing business correspondence including letters, memos, e-mail, and short reports. Practical exercises will be provided for students to hone these skills through observational and written assignments to reinforce class material. Textbook and other learning resources will be utilized to effectuate training. All class sessions are highly interactive and address students’ individual needs.
The course will be conducted on Tuesdays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., June 7 through July 26. To register or for further information, call the College’s Office of Economic Development and Continuing Education at 1-908-709-7600 or go to www.ucc.edu.
