Fire House #3 Opens In Linden

LINDEN – Officials held a grand opening ceremony for the new Linden Firehouse #3 on East Elizabeth Avenue last week. It is the third Linden firehouse to come online during the past three years.

Fire Station #3 is a two-story, 13,665-square foot facility that includes a training room and living quarters for 10 firefighters and two officers. The facility has three vehicle bays that accommodate two fire engines and one ladder truck. In addition, Fire Station # 3 also includes a basement for storage and a material lift.

The new building replaces the former firehouse, which had structural problems. The project was financed and built through the Union County Improvement Authority for the City of Linden at $3.689 million.

Firehouse #1 on Wood Avenue and Firehouse #2 on West St. Georges Avenue were also recently rebuilt. Renovation work at Firehouse #4 on South Wood Avenue is expected to begin this summer.
