ELIZABETH – “Green Jobs” was the topic of a free workshop held at Union County College’s Dr. Thomas H. Brown Center for Business and Educational Advancement on Tuesday, April 19. The program was designed to introduce prospective workers to potential career enhancing training opportunities offered at Union County College through partnerships with Groundwork Elizabeth.
Groundwork Elizabeth’s free workshop introduced potential workers to the possibilities in green jobs and presented further training opportunities that will be held in May at Union County College’s Elizabeth campus. Jonathan Phillips of Groundwork Elizabeth and Aileen Vega, MBA, gave pointers on how to plan, prepare and execute a green career implementation plan.
The follow-up class requires a social security number to enroll and is scheduled as follows: Urban Gardening: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, May 16, 18, 20 from 6 to 9 p.m.

These workshops were offered in partnership with Union County College under a Green Workforce Grant funded by the US Department of Education to prepare a pool of highly trained workers for green jobs.
