ELIZABETH – Police have arrested a man accused of beating another man to death outside an Elizabeth restaurant early Saturday morning, Union County Prosecutor Theodore Romankow announced.
Mikel Anderson, 46, is charged with killing Donald Vankline, 43, outside Royal Fried Chicken on Broad Street on May 7. Investigators believe that a fight between the two men began inside the restaurant and continued outside on the sidewalk. Vankline was pronounced dead at 3:23 a.m., authorities said.
Police located and arrested Anderson minutes after the fight. Union County Superior Court Judge Stuart L. Peim set bail at $700,000.
