EDISON — The Middlesex County College community recently rallied to support the people of Japan, who have been ravaged by the earthquake, tsunami and nuclear fallout.

Faculty, staff and students held a walkathon; the Korean Student Association and Asian Student Association ran a bake sale; Phi Theta Kappa, the honor society for two-year colleges, created origami paper cranes and asked people to sponsor them; the Italian Club held a bake sale; and the College Bookstore collected spare change from patrons after they made a purchase. The total mount of money raised was $1,502.30, which has been donated to Doctors without Borders, which is in Japan aiding in the relief efforts.

The program was organized by the Blue Colt Bookstore, with assistance from the Office of Student Activities.
