SPRINGFIELD–Medical librarians from the Shinn-Lathrope Health Science Library at Morristown Memorial Hospital and the Robert H. Mulreany Health Science Library at Overlook Hospital want to make it easier for individuals to gain access to accurate, timely health information. They have given a PC, keyboard and monitor to the Springfield Free Public Library in order to promote a valuable program called the Consumer Library Information Prescription (CLIP).

The CLIP program is a free medical information service provided by the Atlantic Health Sciences Libraries to all patients, their families or caregivers, and the public. Links to additional authoritative health websites are also available on the Atlantic Health website.

Upon request, an Atlantic Health medical librarian will research and deliver information on any health topic, including diseases and conditions, treatments, surgery, tests and procedures and clinical trials. Information is delivered via e-mail, US mail or fax. Information provided may include web resources, book chapters, articles and online videos.

Individuals may access the CLIP service in person at an Atlantic Health hospital library, by e-mail (clip@atlantichealth.org) or by clicking the “Ask the Librarian” button on the Atlantic Health website. Medical librarians can also be reached by phone at 1-908-522-2699 or by fax at 1-908-522-2274.

The Springfield Free Public Library is located at 66 Mountain Avenue, Springfield. Visit www.sfplnj.org to learn more.
