“…rough waters run deep…”

Once upon a time, (back in the 70’s), a little known band released a little album with a little pyramid on the cover, that would, over time, end up taking over the Billboard chart for longer than any other album in music history…

That band was Pink Floyd, and that album was “Dark Side Of The Moon”…

[smartads]

Nowadays, we relegate this album to classic status, actually prompting Billboard to create a separate chart for what are deemed as ‘catalogue’ titles…

And sadly, we also relegate this band to being somewhat extinct, now with the passing of time, as well as founding member Richard Wright (rest in peace)…

Hopefully now, he will find some peace, because, during their years following “Dark Side”, Pink Floyd had their share of private fights and public feuds, including a lawsuit brought on by other founding member Roger Waters, to disallow member David Gilmore from continuing to use the ‘Pink Floyd’ name once Waters left the band…(and I won’t even go into here what he did to Richard Wright)…But a new documentary does…

Titled “What Ever Happened To Pink Floyd”, they follow the trail from the album “Animals”, where the trouble started becoming obvious, through “The Wall” and “Final Cut”, where the trouble was explosive, carrying on all the way through their ‘final’ studio album “The Division Bell”…(although, there have been rumors about possibly another Pink Floyd album in the works)…

If so, the question of whether Roger Waters has calmed the seas enough to return, would be an interesting development, as well with the passing of Mr. Wright, if it could still feel like Pink Floyd again…

Wish he were here…
