RAHWAY — The Friends of the Rahway Public Library and the Library’s Board of Trustees will present the first Amazing Rahway Race on May 21.

The Amazing Rahway Race is an adventure where teams solve clues, complete challenges and race through downtown Rahway in order to be the first to cross the finish line. This experience will test the teams’ wits and ability to move quickly while allowing them to discover and explore the unique history of Rahway.

Some clues require the use of a digital or phone camera, Internet access at either at the library or on a smart phone, and some spare change to navigate and complete the challenge.

Eric Miles, a member of the Library’s Board of Trustees and the organizer of the race, said that “If you enjoy watching the Amazing Race on television, here is an opportunity to explore the city of Rahway and participate in a fun and exciting adventure.” Miles estimates that teams should be able to complete the race in several hours.

Pre-registration for the race is available now at the Rahway Public Library, on race day from 10 to 10:45 a.m., and at the upcoming Hot Rods and Harley event in Rahway. The race will begin at 11 a.m. on the steps of the library.

The cost for participation is $10 for teams of 2 and $15 for teams of 3-4. All ages are welcome, but at least one member of each team must be 18 years old. Teams are encouraged to dress alike or in costumes. Trophies will be given to the first-, second-, and third-place winners and the best team costume.

All proceeds of the Amazing Race will go to the Friends of the Rahway Public Library, a volunteer 501(c)(3) organization that serves to support the library through fundraising and volunteer activities. To learn more call the Rahway library at 1-732-340-1551 x.212, email, or text 1-732-596-7624.
