ELIZABETH – Girl Scouts Melissa Sintra, Priscilla Borges, and Carinha Castanheira of Troop #42004 in Elizabeth will hold an Awareness Fair in Elizabeth on April 30 in effort to achieve the Girl Scout Gold Award. The Gold Award is the highest honor in the Girl Scout Organization and requires the scouts to design, plan, and implement a project that will have a lasting impact on the community.

The scouts planned the Awareness Fair, a free, outside event to be held on Saturday, April 30 (rain date – Saturday, May 7) from noon-4 p.m. at Portuguese Instructive Social Club, 409 US Highway 1&9 South, Elizabeth. The event will kick off with a fitness walk, starting at Matano Park’s Skate Park at 8:30 a.m., and end at the Portuguese Instructive Social Club Parking Lot, where the Awareness Fair will take place.

The fair will offer fun for all: DJ Rick will be bringing the beats; there will games and prizes. The public will have an opportunity to learn about health and public safety from local area doctors, the fire department, EMT, and Mothers Against Drunk Driving (M.A.D.D.) Many community youth organizations, such as the local Girls Scouts and Boy Scouts, will also be on hand to share information about their organizations and events.
