Task Force Investigates Plainfield Shooting

PLAINFIELD — The Union County Homicide Task Force and the Plainfield Police Department are investigating a shooting that gravely injured a Piscataway man early yesterday morning, Union County Prosecutor Theodore J. Romankow said.

Ricci Askew, 43, was inside a store located on the 1300 block of West 3rd Street in Plainfield around 12:50 a.m. on April 27 when a gunman fired into the store from the doorway, said Romankow.

Askew was gravely injured in the shooting and transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Medical Center where he remained on life support yesterday. No arrests have been made, authorities said.

A reward of up to $5,000 is available for information leading to the arrest and indictment of the person or people responsible for the shooting of Askew. Crime Stoppers may be reached via telephone at 1-908-654-TIPS or through the Crime Stopper’s website, www.uctip.org.
