Paratrooper From Carteret Dies At Fort Bragg

FORT BRAGG, N.C. – A Fort Bragg paratrooper assigned to the 2nd Brigade Combat Team of the 82nd Airborne Division was found dead at his home last week. Investigators were still awaiting autopsy results, but believe that he died of a natural cause.

Sgt. 1st Class Scott Strohmeier, a 34-year-old motor sergeant from Carteret, died on April 22. He had been deployed twice in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and served in Haiti in support of Operation Unified Response.

The sergeant is survived by two daughters, Samantha, 7, and Brianna, 6, and his parents, Eugene and Victoria Strohmeier.
