Middle School Students Give Fairy Tales New Twists

RAHWAY — Rahway Middle School recently held its first Family Literacy Night. This year’s theme, “A Truly Twisted Knight,” engaged students in the creation of their own version of classic fairytales.

Students began the night discussing point of view in literature. Next, students read “The True Story of the Three Little Pigs,” by Jon Scieszka, which tells the tale from the point of view of the wolf. Families then chose a classic fairytale to rewrite from a different point of view. At the end of the night, the new fairytales were read by faculty judges and the top four stories were awarded prizes.
