SOUTH BRUNSWICK — On Saturday, May 14, Middlesex County’s Agricultural Extension Office will present a garden workshop from 10 AM to Noon at the EARTH Center in Davidson’s Mill Pond Park, 42 Riva Ave, South Brunswick. The topic presented will be “Native Plant Landscaping”. The fee for the workshop is $20. This will be a Classroom & Outdoor Workshop
Native plants are species found in our region even before European settlers arrived. Because they have evolved in the prevailing local conditions, they require less maintenance such as fertilizers or pesticides.
This make native plants the perfect choice for gardeners who want to get away from reliance on unnecessary chemical inputs, which can also save them money.
Attendees will learn where to find native plants, species to attract desirable wildlife and some of the best choices for our area. This practical workshop is designed for the beginner or intermediate gardener, looking to minimize environmental impact.
The 2011 gardening workshop series at the EARTH Center is a great opportunity for those who cannot commit to the regular sessions of the Middlesex County Master Gardeners Classes, to get the horticultural information they need from a local source.
Registration is required by May 11 and the program fee is $20. The size of the class will be limited, so register early to insure a space. For more information contact the Ag office at 732 398 5262.
