FREEHOLD – A 29-year-old Ocean Township man was sentenced to six years in state prison last week for stabbing a 47-year-old South Amboy resident.
Kenneth Lyons must serve 85 percent of his sentence – more than five years – before becoming eligible for parole.
The victim was driven to Neptune City by an acquaintance, Michelle Profita, 20, of Wall Township on Sept. 11, 2009. There, Lyons and Joseph Rodriguez, 20, of Long Branch approached the vehicle and assaulted the victim. Lyons stabbed him two times, severing an artery.
Profita fled the scene with the victim still in her car, but told him to get out later. The victim proceeded to a friend’s residence before being taken to a hospital for treatment.
Profita pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit aggravated assault and conspiracy to commit theft charges, and Rodriguez pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and theft charges. They are scheduled to be sentenced on April 29.
