“…mud on the tracks…”

In the news recently, there were reports about the illustrious Mr. Bob Dylan having trouble on his current tour through Asia…

Seems, in China, they accidentally reported that Willie Nelson was performing, and then in Vietnam, the venue tried to tell Bob what songs he could and could not play, etc. and so forth…

[smartads]

Now, I’m not here to defend Mr. Dylan, although my regard for him is quite well known…No, I’m here to NOT defend America’s response to this, exclaiming that he can’t sing, he’s an overrated songwriter, he’s a has-been, etc…This nation, sadly, just loves tossing away yesterday…

…and THIS is where I come in…

First of all, Bob Dylan is a musical treasure, and yes, he may be getting ‘up in years’, but…He’s still touring, still releasing albums of far better quality than anything else that’s out there, and his voice is the passion with which his songs arrive…Plus, he has a very successful radio show as well, on the XM network…

I believe that the bar has now been set so low, that people can’t even recognize how high the bar can go…

After all, most of the ‘commentators’ probably weren’t even born when Bob began his long journey (which now spans over 50 years), and sadly, they grew up with the insignificant individuals who plagiarize the charts these days…

Somewhere along the way, America just got into a comfortable, cookie-cutter ‘low setting’…

…and now ‘how high the bar’ can’t even be placed…
