Morning Star Community Christian Center Celebrates Holy Week

LINDEN — Morning Star Community Christian Center brings the worship experience to the next level with weeklong activities during Holy Week.

A re-enactment of the “last living supper,” titled “On the Road to Calvary,” will take place at the church on Holy Thursday – beginning at 7 p.m. on April 21. Under the leadership of the Minister of Music, Terry Fuller, this production shares the life, death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ as told through contemporary song, dance and speech. It will provide the audience with a unique account of the most historic moments of Christ.

“From joyful hosannas, to divine hallelujahs, this production demonstrates the wonderful works of Christ – He Reigns Forever,” says Fuller.

Holy Week’s activities will start on Palm Sunday, April 17, with two services, 8 a.m. and 11 a.m., where congregants will celebrate Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem. A Good Friday service on Friday, April 22, at 2 p.m. will also be held at the church located at 1009 Chandler Avenue, Linden.

The week moves to a jubilant conclusion with a celebration on Resurrection Sunday, April 24, with a service focusing on the true meaning of “Easter.” A Sunrise service is scheduled for 6 a.m. as well as two other services at their regular times of 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. Childcare services are available onsite at the church, and all activities are free and open to the public.

Holy Week at Morning Star will incorporate heartfelt worship to communicate the promise of life in Christ. “Our desire is to both de-mystify what a life of faith looks like while pointing people to the deep, hidden benefits of a relationship with Jesus,” said senior pastor Therman Evans.

“One of the missions of our church is to aid in building stronger families and a better community through the Word of God….we welcome everyone. No matter who you are, where you come from, and what your life experience has been, our doors are open to you, your friends and families”, continued Evans.

The community is invited to attend Morning Star’s many spirit-filled events for men, women, children and the entire family. Additional details can be found on the church’s website at
