Union County College Golf Tournament To Raise Money For Scholarships On May 2

CRANFORD — The Union County College Foundation’s 19th Annual Golf Tournament will be held on Monday, May 2, at Shackamaxon Golf & Country Club located in Scotch Plains.

This year’s Event Sponsor is Wells Fargo. Golfers will have a chance to win a Volkswagen, courtesy of Jack Daniels Auto Group, at a Hole-In-One along with a Rolex Watch at a Hole-In-One from Martin Jewelry. There are plenty of exciting items to bid on during the silent auction; such as a foursome at Fiddler’s Elbow or Jumping Brook Country Club. Proceeds from the Golf Tournament will go to benefit the students, many who otherwise would not be able to obtain their goal of a College education without this assistance.

J. Robert Hoeffler, a Union County College Foundation trustee, executive director of the Cranford Chamber of Commerce, and former mayor of Cranford, is serving as the tournament chairman, overseeing a nine member committee of Union County College Board of Trustees and Foundation members, administrators, faculty, alumni and outside business leaders.

The Golf Tournament will kick off at Shackamaxon at noon. Registration will begin at 10:00 a.m. and lunch will be served at 11:00 a.m.

At the conclusion of the tournament, a cocktail reception will be held. It will begin at 5:30 p.m., and will be followed by a dinner, an awards ceremony, and a raffle. For those who do not golf, reservations are available for the dinner only.

The Union County College Foundation Golf Tournament was established in 1993 to honor Richard O. Luster, a member of the Union County College Board of Governors, who passed away the previous year. Luster was an avid golfer, and his widow, Marylyn Luster Masia, continues to serve as the Tournament’s Honorary Chairperson. Since its inception, the tournament has become a well-established annual event that offers members of the educational, corporate, and business communities the opportunity to compete on the links and to share a day of informal networking.

Many opportunities are available for participation in the tournament at many sponsorship/partnership levels, such as a Corporate Foursome, Dinner Sponsor, Lunch Sponsor, Cocktail Reception Sponsor, Gift Bag Sponsor, or to attend just the dinner. Join in the fun of the day and the spirit of the Union County College Foundation’s mission – to help tomorrow’s leaders today!
