UNION COUNTY — The New Jersey State Police, the NJ State Police Office of Emergency Management, and emergency response and emergency management agencies will be conducting a multi-day, full scale exercise to test first responder deployment and response capabilities in New Jersey’s Urban Area Security Initiative region.

The exercise will take place in road, rail and waterway areas throughout Bergen, Hudson, Essex, Passaic, Morris, Union and Middlesex counties starting today and continuing through Saturday, April 9.

During the exercise, there will be an increase in uniformed New Jersey State Police personnel, vehicles and resources and local emergency response personnel in the area.   This is not a cause for alarm and no traffic delays are expected in New Jersey, according to a State Police spokesman.
