Company’s ‘Anniversary Gift’ To Benefit Local Charities

ELIZABETH – Charitable organizations in Newark, Elizabeth, Morristown, East Hanover and Piscataway have received donations from Actavis to commemorate the company’s fifth anniversary in the United States.

On behalf of employees at its Morristown headquarters and Elizabeth manufacturing/R&D facility, Actavis donated a total of $12,500 to the InterFaith Food Pantry and to Family Service of Morris County, both in Morristown; the Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter in East Hanover; the Elizabeth Community Food Bank, Bethany Cares, Inc., in Newark; and BAPS Charities in Piscataway. Donation checks were mailed in March.

Employees at the two sites selected the recipients after Actavis Inc. CEO Doug Boothe committed funds to each of the company’s five U.S. sites to distribute among local charities chosen by the sites’ employees. The company also has facilities in Sunrise, Fla.; Owings Mills, Md.; and Lincolnton, N.C.

“Our No. 1 intention is to positively impact the communities in which we live and work, and which have been so welcoming to Actavis and helpful to our success in the United States,” Boothe said. “And, because our employees have been such a driving force behind our charitable initiatives, we thought they should decide where to direct the donations.”

In addition to the New Jersey charities, Actavis also donated to:

  • Sawgrass Elementary School and Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, in Florida;
  • Health Care for the Homeless, Boys Hope Girls Hope, Fuel Fund of Maryland, Irvine Nature Center and Mid-Atlantic German Shepherd Rescue, in Maryland; and
  • Love Memorial Middle School, Lincoln County Coalition Against Child Abuse, Lincoln Charter School-Lincolnton Campus, Helping Hands of Lincoln County and the Humane Society of Lincoln County, in North Carolina.

The U.S. subsidiary of Actavis Group hf began operating in the United States in 2005, and manufactures and markets more than 140 prescription and non-prescription medications for the U.S. market.
