ELIZABETH–The Trinitas Health Foundation reports that its annual spring fundraiser scheduled for May 5 is set to be another successful event that will benefit the medical center and the patients it serves in Elizabeth and the wider Central New Jersey region.
Taking place at The Venetian in Garfield, “The Gift of Health” will honor Dennis Bone, president of Verizon, with the 2011 Philanthropy Award, and Leigh Porges and Anne DeLaney, founders of OneGift Inc., with the 2011 Humanitarian Award. The event is expected to draw more than 600 guests. A silent auction, raffles, dining and dancing will be part of the annual event.
NJ Burkett, Channel 7 WABC national and international broadcast journalist, Elizabeth native, and long-time Trinitas friend and supporter, will again be the evening’s Master of Ceremonies. New this year will be entertainment by the well-known performing group, The Nerds.
“The Gala this year again promises to be a well-attended successful fundraising event,” explains Nadine Brechner, Chief Development Officer and Executive Director of the Trinitas Health Foundation. “We are extremely proud to honor Verizon which has been a dedicated partner and supporter of Trinitas Regional Medical Center.”
In the past six years, Verizon’s generosity has resulted in support of the medical center’s medical residency program, the Pediatric Center on Jefferson Street, the Medical Mentoring program for high school students, and funding for the construction of the Center for Regional Education (CORE) building on Elizabeth Avenue in Midtown.
“We are also thrilled to honor OneGift Inc. Founded by Leigh Porges and Anne DeLaney in memory of their mothers, OneGift Inc. has generously helped many patients who are treated at Trinitas Comprehensive Cancer Center,” remarks Brechner, adding, “Since 2009, many of our patients have benefitted from spirit-lifting and life-extending experiences as they deal with very difficult health issues. OneGift has had a truly profound impact on so many people.”
OneGift has provided funding for recipients to enjoy life-affirming experiences such as a final opportunity to connect with family members out of state or a patient’s visit to the campus where his son planned to go to college.
Co-chairs of the 2011 Gala are Foundation Trustees Joseph Cantalupo, Catherine J. Flynn, Esq., and Mary Patricia Keefe, Esq. Kamran Khazaei, MD, Chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Trinitas Regional Medical Center, completes the line-up of Gala coordinators.
