SOUTH BRUNSWICK — On Wednesday, April 13, from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m., Middlesex County’s Agricultural Extension Office will present a Gardening Seminar at the EARTH Center, 42 Riva Avenue, Davidson’s Mill Pond Park, South Brunswick. The topic will be, “All About Growing Heirlooms: Tomatoes & More”

[smartads]

Heirloom vegetables are grown from seed handed down among family members for generations; to preserve certain attractive characteristics. These vegetables offer more flavor and interest than the hybrid seeds developed by the seed/chemical companies. Heirloom varieties, including tomatoes, have become popular recently as many seeds have become available since the fall of the Iron curtain. If you are looking to grow some exotic looking and tasting vegetables, this is the workshop for you. Attendees of the workshop will learn, proper seed saving techniques as well as tips and techniques to insure a healthy, productive vegetable garden.

Registration is required by April 8. The program fee is $20 per attendee.

To register, and for information, contact the EARTH Center at 1-732-398-5262.
