Perth Amboy To Hold CERT Training Classes

PERTH AMBOY – The city will hold classes to train volunteers who want to join the Community Emergency Response Team, beginning Wednesday, March 31.

The CERT Program educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. Using the knowledge learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help.

Wednesday evening classes meet from 6:30-8:30 p.m. until the end of June. Their will be one Saturday morning practical exercise, with a date to be determined.
