PERTH AMBOY . . . Raritan Bay Medical Center is sponsoring a one day Childbirth Education / Lamaze Class Saturday, April 2, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.  The class is designed to help expectant parents better understand the childbearing process. A registered nurse with special training in labor, delivery and childcare techniques will facilitate the class.  It will be held in Centennial Hall, 530 New Brunswick Ave., Perth Amboy.  The fee for the course is $125 per couple.  Registration required, call 732.324.5300.

Raritan Bay Medical Center and the South Amboy Branch YMCA is co-sponsoring a one day Childbirth Education / Lamaze Class Sunday, April 3, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the South Amboy Branch YMCA, 200 John T. O’Leary Blvd., South Amboy. The class is designed to help expectant parents better understand the childbearing process. A registered nurse with special training in labor, delivery and childcare techniques will facilitate the class.  The fee for the course is $100 for YMCA members and $125 for non-members per couple.  Registration required, call 732.553.9622.

OLD BRIDGE… Raritan Bay Medical Center is sponsoring an Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia Caregivers Support Group meeting Monday, April 4, 6:30 to 8 p.m., at its Old Bridge location.  Caregivers of individuals with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia are invited to attend. The meeting will be held in Auxiliary Hall C located on the lower level of the Medical Arts Building, adjacent to the hospital on Ferry Rd. between Routes 9 & 18.  Refreshments will be served.  Call 732.324.4930 to register or for more information.

OLD BRIDGE… Raritan Bay Medical Center’s Old Bridge Auxiliary is sponsoring a uniform sale Monday, April 4, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the hospital’s Old Bridge location.  The sale will be held in Auxiliary Hall B&C, lower level of the Medical Arts Building, adjacent to the Medical Center, off of Ferry Rd. between Routes 9 and 18.  A portion of the proceeds benefit programs and services. PERTH AMBOY…Raritan Bay Medical Center is sponsoring an HIV support group meeting every Monday, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Anyone diagnosed with or caring for someone infected with HIV is welcome to attend.  Meetings are held at the hospital’s Perth Amboy location, 530 New Brunswick Ave.  For location and to register, call 732.442.3700 ext. 5942.  Free and confidential rapid HIV testing is also provided by the medical center, with results known in 30 minutes. PERTH AMBOY…Raritan Bay Medical Center is offering an American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider CPR class Wednesday, April 6, 7 to 11:30 p.m. at the hospital’s Perth Amboy location, 530 New Brunswick Ave. Participants will receive certification in adult CPR, learn about ventilation devices, automated external defibrillators and how to clear an obstructed airway in responsive and unresponsive patients.  Cost is $80 per person. PERTH AMBOY…Raritan Bay Medical Center is offering an American Heart Association (AHA) CPR for Family and Friends class Wednesday, April 6, 7 p.m., at the hospital’s Perth Amboy location, 530 New Brunswick Ave.  The class will include a basic introduction to adult, infant and child “chain of survival,” CPR, safety, legal and ethical considerations.  No formal credit is given for this course, which is not for certification, but those who complete it will receive a participation card from the AHA. OLD BRIDGE…Raritan Bay Medical Center’s Division of Integrative Medicine is holding a Second Degree Reiki class Saturday, April 9, 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the hospital’s Old Bridge location in Auxiliary Hall B & C, located on the lower level of the Medical Arts Building, adjacent to the hospital on Ferry Rd. between Routes 9 & 18. Reiki is a simple, safe, and effective healing practice that complements medical treatment. The class will be taught by Reiki Master Sharon Yeskel. The fee for the course is $200. WOODBRIDGE…Raritan Bay Medical Center is sponsoring a Breast Cancer Stage III and Beyond Support Group meeting Tuesday, April 12, 6 to 7 p.m., at the Medical Pavilion at Woodbridge, 740 Route 1 North, Iselin.  A variety of education topics, special activities and relaxation techniques will provide coping skills and encouragement for those diagnosed with stage III or IV breast cancer.  The group is lead by a licensed social worker.  For more information or to register for groups, call 732.362.3860.

PERTH AMBOY… Raritan Bay Medical Center’s monthly tour of its Dr. Sam. Gordon Berkow Maternity Pavilion and family health information open house will be held Wednesday, April 13, at 7 p.m.  Newly expectant parents are invited to take the tour and learn about the maternity unit’s modern comforts designed to provide a calm and relaxing birthing experience. As part of the event, information is provided in an open house format about child car seat safety, guided imagery and body mechanics training for use during labor, nutritional information for mother and child, how to pick a pediatrician and an infant CPR demonstration.  Participants are asked to meet in the main lobby of the hospital’s Perth Amboy location, 530 New Brunswick Ave.  Registration suggested, call 732.324.5300.

OLD BRIDGE…Raritan Bay Medical Center’s Department of Integrative Medicine is offering a Meditative Journaling workshop Thursdays, beginning April 14 through May 5, 7 to 8 p.m., at the hospital’s Old Bridge location in Auxiliary Hall B & C, located on the lower level of the Medical Arts Building, adjacent to the hospital on Ferry Rd. between Routes 9 & 18.

PERTH AMBOY… Art aficionados, those interested in supporting Raritan Bay Medical Center’s patient care services or simply looking to enjoy an elegant night out will want to attend Raritan Bay Medical Center Foundation’s “Inspirations: A Celebration of Art & Spring,” art show reception Thursday, April 14, 6 to 8 p.m., at the hospital’s Perth Amboy location, 530 New Brunswick Ave. This chic evening includes hors d’oeuvres, cocktails, valet parking, wine tasting by Joe Canal’s Discount Liquor, and music provided by the Victor Quezada Jazz Trio. As part of the evening, retired Principal of Perth Amboy High School Rozalia Czaban will be honored for her commitment to the district’s students, the community and Raritan Bay Medical Center.

WOODBRIDGE…Raritan Bay Medical Center is sponsoring a Breast Cancer Support Survivor Network meeting Tuesday, April 26, 6 to 7 p.m., at the Medical Pavilion at Woodbridge, 740 Route 1 North, Iselin.  The support group is for men and women currently in treatment or who have completed breast cancer treatment, to share experiences and learn tips to deal with everyday issues.
