ELIZABETH-There was Esso Standard Oil and Sparlelogs Bollers Bottling. The Janet Memorial Orphanage was on Murray and Cherry streets until 1996 when it was torn down. It was abandoned in 1962.

HILLSIDE once had: Baker and Taylor Company and Kraft Cheese Company.

LINDEN-Di Leo’s Candy Store, Elwood Sweet Shop, Linden Plaza Theatre, Kuznitz Shoes, Morey LaRue Laundry, Noll Jewlers, The Linden Book Shop Gallery, Penn Sweet Shop, Polonia Gas Station, Twelve Street Candy Store and Wally’s Bar & Grill on 42nd Street.

ROSELLE-The first post office in Roselle was opened by Andrew Arrison in 1872. The following year James R. Clark was appointed and retained it until 1881, when Mr. J.K. Mulford was appointed.

WESTFIELD-Erastus Miller & Son’s Dry Goods, New York Candy Kitchen, Schaefer’s and Tuttele Bros.; coal and lumber.
