Police Investigating Carteret Woman’s Death

CARTERET — Police are actively investigating the death of a 32-year-old Carteret woman who apparently was killed in her home on Monday, Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce J. Kaplan and Carteret Police Chief John Pieczyski announced.

Dana Ciccolella, 32, of John Street, was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:22 p.m. on March 21, after a family friend called 911 at 10:15 p.m.

The results of an autopsy by the Middlesex County Medical Examiner’s Office were not immediately available, but authorities believe Ciccolella is the victim of a homicide.

An investigation by Detective Sgt. Douglas Kopin of the Carteret Police Department and Investigator Adrian Villegas of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office determined that family members found the victim unresponsive, and contacted the friend, who subsequently called police.

No arrests have been made, officials said, but the investigation is continuing. Authorities are asking anyone with information about the case to contact Detective Sgt. Kopin of the Carteret Police Department at 1-732-541-3857, or Investigator Villegas of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office at 1-732-745-4428.
