Entertainment Company Launches South Amboy Studio™

SOUTH AMBOY– Mecca Entertainment (formerly Triple H Productions, Inc.) recently opened its new Studio™ and producing office facility on Broadway, in the heart of South Amboy.

The Studio™, which has been about three years in the making, can best be described as a hybrid between a professional production company and a community arts and education center. The family- owned and operated facility offers young and emerging artists arts education opportunities.

The entire Hernandez family has had a hand in constructing and planning the Studio™ project with construction overseen by Wilfredo Sr., Brian and Daniel Hernandez, while Wilfredo Jr. and his mother, Maria, worked on planning and programming. The project became a labor of love as cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends came to lend a hand.

Through several difficult challenges, the company has come out reinvigorated and re-imagined, now named in honor of its founding producer, Joseph Mecca, who passed away in March of last year.

The Studio™ programs kick off this month with series of sample workshops, launch parties and a lineup of comprehensive summer programs. They are taught by a core group of professional teaching artists and span the performing, visual, literary, and allied creative arts. The Studio™ also employs local emerging artists, administrators, students and professionals as a way to engage the younger creative workforce that is still reeling through budget cuts and the Great Recession.

Studio™ programs are available for all ages and several payment plan options have been tailored for different budget situations, including special discounts for families and community residents. Upcoming programs include workshops in mask making and performance, acting & improv, fine arts, private vocal lessons, movie nights, and a development program for young writers. The Studio™ will also feature the Kindermusik® program for toddlers and young children as well as a premiere filmmaking program for young students this summer taught by NYU filmmakers.

This season’s lineup of stage productions is also a testament to the creative buzz surrounding the company with hits like Disney’s Camp Rock, OLDIES! A Musical Tribute to the 50’s, 60’s & 70’s as well as a few other big surprises. The company continues to achieve professional recognition through its ambitious endeavors, most recently completing a pilot production for Disney Theatrical Productions of Broadway, N.Y.. Mecca Entertainment, who produced the first pilot of “Disney’s Peter Pan Jr.” this past November, is experiencing a significant rate of growth and even national recognition.
