HACKENSACK — On February 27, the Wardlaw-Hartridge School’s cheerleading team traveled to Fairleigh Dickinson University in Hackensack to compete in the Eastern States Cheerleading Championships for the third year. The Rams competed in six individual divisions and two team divisions.
The entire team was awarded Second Degree of Excellency in the Dance/Drill Division. The competition team was also awarded Second Degree of Excellency in the Cheer/Dance Division.
Junior Lauren Levine and sophomore Brianna Gutierrez were awarded Second Degree of Excellency in Dance/Drill. Juniors Aneesa Sonawalla, Marie Vlad, and Ashley Martin were awarded First Degree of Excellency in Triple Cheer. Marie Vlad, Ashley Martin, An Vu, Milika Griffiths, and Pranali Soni placed Second in the Cheer Olympic event for longest held liberty.
Taking home the Overall Champion in their divisions were Valentina Margiottiello and Yulemni Morel in the Double Cheer division; Milika Griffiths and Ashley DaCosta in the Double Pompom Division; Divya Mehta, Pranali Soni, and Shaheen Grajeda in the Triple Pompom Division; and Valentina, Yulemni, and Milika in the Triple Dance Drill Division.
