CRANBURY — The Welsh Society of Central New Jersey will present the North American Welsh Choir at a concert at St. David’s Episcopal Church, 90 South Main Street, Cranbury, at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 19. The audience will be encouraged to join in singing favorite Welsh songs as part of the celebration of St. David’s Day.
The North American Welsh Choir, also known as Côr Cymry Gogledd America, is a community choir with a continental presence that seeks to reflect the North-American Welsh experience through music and song. Drawing on the rich musical heritage of Wales, the choir strives to create a new musical genre reflecting what it means to be both Welsh and North American.
Saint David’s Day is the feast day of Saint David, the patron saint of Wales, and falls on March 1 each year.
Tea and Welsh cakes will be served following the concert. Admission is free though a goodwill offering will be appreciated. Directions to the church are available at the church website www.stdavidscranbury.com or from the church office 1-609-655-4731.
