Literacy Volunteers Plan Spring Tutor Training Workshop

UNION — Literacy Volunteers of Union County, a volunteer driven, non-profit organization dedicated to increasing the literacy of adults and their families in Union County, is now registering for the spring new tutor training workshop.

The workshop will take place at the Union Public Library, located at 1980 Morris Avenue, during May. The six-part workshop series begins on May 4 and continues May 5, 11, 12, 18 and 19. Sessions begin at 6:30 p.m. and conclude at 8:30 p.m. Attendance is required at all sessions to become a certified tutor of both basic reading skills and English as a second language.

There is a $40 non-refundable registration fee to cover the cost of materials distributed to new volunteers at the workshop. Need based scholarships are available to cover the cost of registration to qualifying individuals.
